Dry Matter basis
This
food was developed in cooperation with Phoebe Linden at Santa
Barbara Bird Farm, the inventor of the Hand Weaning Process so
popular today. The Hand Weaning Food is an important element of
the Abundance Weaning Program (see our links) about which Phoebe
has published so many articles. Phoebe tested the food for many
years as she developed the Abundance Weaning Process. Our Hand
Weaning Foods can be fed to 21-day-old chicks along with the other
foods recommended in the Abundance Weaning protocol. More importantly,
our Weaning Foods can be fed to birds of all ages and become a
part of their diet for the rest their life. It is easy, safe,
and fun to feed to the birds because of the closeness it develops
between them and you. It is now accepted as a "must have"
food in many birds' homes.
There
are three sizes and two formulas of the Weaning Foods:
Grain
base formula, for all exotic birds.
Large
size: 3/4 inch in length and 1/4 inch in diameter. This is a good
size for baby Eclectus, Greys, Amazons, Macaws and Cockatoos.
Medium
size: 3/4 inch in length and 1/8 inch in diameter. This is a good
size for Love birds, Cockatiels and Conure babies.
Fruit base formula, for all exotic birds:
X-Large
(Macaw) size: 3/4 inch in length 1/2 inch in diameter. This is
a good size for any large parrot or Macaw and has been the most
popular choice for them.

warm water and still retains its shape.
• The first and only baby chick weaning food formulated with
high nutrient and high energy densities specifically for the weaning

Scenic Hand Weaning Food is stirred with water warmed to 110 degrees.
If necessary, maintain food in proper temperature range by adding
more warm water. Elicit feeding behavior from the chick and drop
the morsel toward the back of the throat. Allow ample swallowing
time between morsels. Offer other warm foods like mashed banana
or apple to accustom the chick to the principle of variety. Vitamins
and mineral supplements are not necessary and should only be given
under the direction of a veterinarian.

Yellow corn, soybean meal, corn gluten meal, corn hominy, dehydrated
alfalfa meal, apple fiber, sucrose, soybean oil, dicalcium phosphate,
calcium carbonate, sodium chloride, L-lysine, propionic acid,
vitamin C 2-polyphosphate, choline chloride, zinc oxide, ferrous
sulfate, manganous oxide, nicotinic acid, d-calcium pantothenate,
copper sulfate, menadione dimethylpyrimidinol bisulfite (vitamin
K), riboflavin supplement,
thiamin mononitrate, ethylenediamine dihydriodide, sodium selenite,
biotin, folic acid, pyridoxine HCL (vitamin B-6), cyanocobalamin
