Scenic Bird Food is a division of Marion Zoological, which was founded in 1985 by Jim Goetz. Working with a collaboration of exceptional researchers, scientists, and exotic animal caretakers, Marion Zoological and Scenic Bird Foods have introduced products that have resulted in better feeding protocols, better nutrition, better health, improved reproduction, and improved ease of use and economy. These products now improve the health, conservation, and reproduction of the rarest and most endangered species of birds, including the Black Palm Cockatoo (San Diego Zoo), Red and Blue Lory (Kula Eco Park), Bali Mynah (Private Aviary) and the Buffon's Macaw (Amigos de las Aves).

Scenic Bird Food was originally developed for large mixed aviaries and was developed over a three-year study with 400 birds representing almost 70 captive species. At the conclusion of this study, the results and Scientific Method were presented to the Association of Avian Veterinarians and the Association of Zoo Veterinarians.

The groundbreaking results of this study were also published in the prestigious Journal of Nutrition in 1991.

In 1985 Scenic Bird Food became the first extruded diet available to the public and was widely advertised in Bird Talk, Bird World, Bird Breeder magazines and many others.

Scenic Bird Food offers baby formulas, hand weaning foods and adult foods.
